Inspiration
Diyati draws inspiration from the terracotta diyas that illuminate homes during Deepavali, the Festival of Lights that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. It comes from an ancient story of a grandmother who shared the sacred art of crafting terracotta diyas, explaining how each clay lamp carries Earth’s essence.
Diyati is a unique creation made using long-pi pottery craft, features cupped hands in a traditional namaskar gesture, cradling a central light that symbolizes eternal brightness. The bowl-like formation serves both practical and aesthetic purposes – it can hold water and flowers, reflecting the traditional floral decorations of Deepavali while keeping the ceremonial light as its focal point.
Through Diyati, their contemporary interpretation, these humble lamps continue their centuries-old tradition of illuminating homes, symbolizing the pure, unpretentious triumph of light over darkness.
